about

A split release between two Concord experimental artists, Alix Kaplan and Hugh Schmidt.

Utilize is by Alix Kaplan (Waf, MDS, Nick Owen), one of Concord's finest drummers and songwriters, and is the debut of her unique brand of atmospheric and experimental indie rock. Her grandmother is featured on the cover and the first track!

Coyotes in My Neighborhood is Hugh Schmidt's (Kids Luv Cops, Nick Owen) third solo record and is based on my various experiences with coyotes in my hometown of Carlisle, MA. On this album I'm continuing my journey into of avant-garde metal which began on "Bears Live Outside". The story behind each song can be found by looking at the individual tracks. Coyotes are ancient and wise beings, interact with them carefully.

Track Name: Hugh Schmidt - Coyotes in My Neighborhood I
coal eyes
studded with souls of lives i've shaken
flea ridden pelt
dying alone in a field
I am watched by humans
for in their eyes i die
from their eyes I drown
Track Name: Hugh Schmidt - Adirondack Ditty
you can never trust a coyote
very rarely
can you trust a coyote
stab you in the back
classic coyote
when you're up in the mountains
sitting on a rock
coughing up a storm
thats when you really don't want to encounter a coyote
that's for sure
highlight dentures
cause in the mountains you're alone
and a coyote that you previously trusted can turn it's back on you
Track Name: Hugh Schmidt - Tracks in the Snow
he had such a sweet voice in church choir i just don't understand why he doesn't use it. how is anyone supposed to understand what he's saying with all that screaming?
Track Name: Hugh Schmidt - Coyotes in My Neighborhood IV
from the road i chose
to cross
comes the lights
with whom i lost

your god is dead nailed to cross
the real one's caught
covered with moss

eyes are black
with nothing left
white stares back
without regret

drowned at my baptism
life at my withdrawal
as your coffins starts to rot
fuck all restless morals

sky of stygian blue
overcomes the red of sunset
branches spread like arms
to shield
from graceful violence

raising up as to a prayer
to the darkened sky
pleading with the coming darkness
to let its night pass by
